Open Call: Providers needed for Schools Out Summerfest 2017!

The Bedford + District Cerebral Palsy Society (BDCPS) are looking for creative practitioners of all kinds to join their young people for their Schools Out Summerfest 2017. Recreating all the fun of Glastonbury but without the mud, BDCPS are running their Summerfest over two sites (Ridgeway School and the University of Bedfordshire, Bedford campus), between the 7th and 18th August 2017.

They are looking for up to 5 different practitioners to help their young people achieve that festival experience. Think musicians, face-painting, circus skills, headdress making, percussion, t-shirt stenciling, street food, posing for cool photos, crafting, relaxing and raving. Summerfest will culminate in a celebration day at the University of Bedfordshire Theatre on the 18th of August and we are looking for a band to play and for the young people to be able to get involved with the performance as much as possible (by joining in, wearing their festival outfits and having a great time).

The Schools Out Summerfest will be run in small group sessions of 6 young people and their support workers (so 12 participants in total) in two hour slots between 10am – 12pm, and 1pm – 3pm.

We would like to invite expressions of interest from creative practitioners who have something fun to offer, are happy to work with the BDCPS to ensure their activity can be accessed by the young attendees, all of whom have significant additional needs and are up for having a great time. We are looking for up to 5 practitioners to work for a minimum of one day (two workshops per day) and we have a budget of £180 per day inclusive of materials, VAT, prep and travel.

We are also looking for face painters and a band to play at the final celebration event for a fee. To make an expression of interest, please emaileleanorh@bedfordcreativearts.org.uk by the 7th July 2017 with your workshop idea, your room requirements, and your availability between the 1st and the 18th August 2017.
