PROCESSIONS for Schools

Bedford Creative Arts is heading up Bedford’s part in PROCESSIONS – a national, mass participation artwork to celebrate 100 years of votes for women. 100 banners will be made by 100 different groups and together, we will walk these banners through the streets of London, Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh on Sunday 10th June 2018. As a part of the PROCESSIONS project, a teaching resource has been created for schools across the UK as a starting point to explore and learn about the history of Women’s Suffrage, democracy and gender equality.

These standalone resources can be used alongside participation in the 10th June 2018 event but have been designed for on-going cross-curricular use in school and will be available before and after the event for schools to use.

The resources are primarily designed for Years 5-8 in England and Wales, Years 6-9 in Northern Ireland and P6-S2 in Scotland, but they’re easily accessible for lower and upper age ranges.

We would love schools to take part but acknowledge that this may not be possible for all, so we want to stress that this pack can be used before or after the event and used to inspire pupils, students and teachers using the themes and ideas behind PROCESSIONS.

The pack can be downloaded via our website – a Welsh language version is available: https://www.processions.co.uk/workshops/pdf-pack/
