Harpur Trust Art Competition

The Harpur Trust is delighted once again to be running its biennial Art Competition for schools across Bedford Borough.  The competition is open to pupils aged 4-18 years and there are 5 age categories, all of which offer prizes to both the individual and – more importantly – monetary prizes of up to £300 for the winning school which can be used to purchase art equipment.  Over 100 entries will also be selected for an exhibition at the Higgins Bedford next Summer.

As part of the competition, the Harpur Trust offered all schools in the borough the opportunity to apply for a free artist workshop. 31 schools have taken this up and a team of Visiting Artists are now in the process of delivering workshops in support of the competition.  This month, over 20 teachers also took part in some free CPD sessions delivered by three of the Trust’s appointed artists.

If your school would like to take part in the competition, it isn’t too late.  Entries need to be submitted in March next year so there is plenty of time to get working on the project, the theme of which is ‘The Fabric of Bedford’.  Full details are available on the Harpur Trust’s website.
