A Chance to Dance for Bedfordshire Secondary Schools

The University of Bedfordshire is looking for expressions of interests from Bedfordshire secondary schools interested in developing dance. We are offering up to 25 weeks of dance classes from a professional dance artist who will work with a group of young people in the school to develop their dance skills and work towards a creating a short performance.

The project will happen between Sep 2019- April 2020 and there will be opportunities for groups to perform their work in the University of Bedfordshire theatre.

We are interested in working with groups of all ages, including those who may be very new to dance. This could be a chance to start up a new dance club, or offer an opportunity for existing dance groups to experience something new. We work with dance artists from a range of backgrounds and styles, from Contemporary to Street to Bollywood so will be sure to find something that young people are interested in!

This package is worth £1250 and we are also able to offer and additional £250 towards travel costs for schools who perform their work at the University. In return we are looking to connect with staff in schools who deliver or are interested in dance and have their support in facilitating this exciting project.

For further information or to express an interest please email rachel.farrer@beds.ac.uk

Expressions of interest should include:

  • Name of school and key contact
  • Current dance activity offered in school
  • An outline of how you would like to develop dance with the 25 week programme- eg. start a new group or have an existing group experience a new dance style
