Airship Dreams

Be part of Bedford Creative Arts’ ambitious community art project Airship Dreams, led by award-winning artist Mike Stubbs, and contribute to a celebration of Bedford’s identity as the historical centre of the UK’s airship industry.

We’re inviting you to share your own airship experiences, memories, artefacts and ‘dreams’ to add to our online community archive, with the possibility of even being included in the Airship Dreams exhibition at Higgins Bedford in 2021. This summer, to inspire your airship-related contributions, BCA will offer a series of creative activities for all ages to enjoy at home. From creating your own animations to taking your own airship flight from the comfort of your living room, there will be many opportunities to get involved and share your creations with BCA on social media.

Keep an eye out for a series of videos from our Airship Dreams Community Champion, Sita Thomas (previously seen on Channel 5’s Milkshake), to fire up your imagination and get you airship-dreaming. Sita commented: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for people locally to explore the town’s airship heritage and take some pride in what has been achieved and dream of where we might go now!”

We’re also developing an Airship Dreams education pack for schools. If your school is interested, please email Kayte on Kaytej@bedfordcreativearts.org.uk.
