BCA is seeking new trustees

Bedford Creative Arts (BCA) are seeking enthusiastic and experienced professionals to join our Board of Trustees to help develop and support our work. As part of BCA, The Culture Challenge exists to deliver activities in schools but BCA’s work extends much wider into the local community.

Bedford Creative Arts creates transformative experiences and new possibilities through high quality art for everyone, centred on the values of full engagement, inclusion and inspiration.

We believe great art can enhance and transform people’s lives. We enable original, imaginative, extraordinary, adventurous and often provocative art works and encounters in every day and unconventional places. We commission and enable art that directly engages the public through collaboration with exceptional artists and cultural providers. We also work intensively in the education sector locally to inspire young people and schools to engage with culture.

We need trustees who can bring innovative ideas, enthusiasm and excellent judgement to our team to help us to achieve our objectives and take on future challenges.

Our Board of Trustees sets the strategy for the organisation and delegates authority to the Director for all operational matters. They ensure the organisation is steered towards success by providing their expertise and advice, and by challenging and critiquing key decisions.

We operate a rolling recruitment programme but are currently seeking to fill 4 vacancies by the end of the year. Our next deadline for applications is 12th July 2019.

We are actively seeking to develop the diverse representation of our Board and welcome applications from people from a wide variety of backgrounds and especially those that will help us to be culturally representative of the communities we serve in Bedfordshire.

As one of our trustees you would have the opportunity to support a unique, passionate and driven charity, which has a transformative impact on the communities it works with. You will be a strong advocate for our work and prepared to give your time and expertise to supporting our long term development as a National Portfolio Organisation of the Arts Council.

The role is voluntary, with all reasonable expenses paid.

Trustees are expected to attend the majority of formal Board meetings (at least quarterly) as well as attending working group meetings, BCA events and being available to support the staff team remotely.
