Call out to dance practitioners

The University of Bedfordshire is offering opportunities for experienced and emerging artists over a period of 18 months. Both schemes offer access to in kind rehearsal space and use of the UoB Theatre to show work. There is a bursary for travel and development opportunities for emerging artists, and a larger package of support for established artists. They are seeking to recruit:

  • Partnership artists

You will be an established artist committed to the development of dance in the eastern region in ways that reach new and diverse audiences. You will offer a high level of artistic practice, leadership and knowledge. You will develop a performance project during your partnership association with the university, which will be performed at the University in Bedford. You will contribute to regional discussions and mentoring through our dance dialogue days.

  • Emerging Artists/Graduate Artists

You may be a recent graduate with an interest in developing your choreographic practice, or you may be shifting into choreography from another area of the dance field. You will be based in the Eastern region and you will be committed to creating and developing your work in Bedfordshire. You will propose and develop a new choreographic project while supported by the University. You will participate in regional discussions and have access to mentoring on your artistic and professional development through dance dialogue days. UoB is particularly interested in applications from artists who identify as women and/or as being of South Asian ethnicity but welcome applications from all artists who are committed to developing wider engagement with dance in the Eastern region.

BCA will be part of the selection panel and also offering some support to the artists through mentoring during the programme. Successful applicants may also be invited to take on further work with students and/or local communities.

If you are interested please get in contact with tamara.ashley@beds.ac.uk for further information on how to apply stating clearly which scheme you are interested in.
