As the contribution of creative industries to GDP continues to grow (over £84 billion in 2016; £9.6 million per hour), pressure on school budgets is leading to cuts in arts based curricula. The Creative Industries Symposium is aimed at teachers and others involved in curricula development within schools.

The event will:

  • Offer a robust defence of the creative industries and the place of arts based subjects within education.
  • Provide opportunities for teaching professionals and academics to engage in shared dialogue about career pathways within the creative industries.
  • Showcase innovative practice within teaching and the creative industries, from traditional crafts, fine arts, to digital and audio-visual fields.
