Get your class involved in the BBC’s writing competition

Are you searching for something a little bit different to do with your class this term? Twinkl is excited to support BBC 500 Words with a range of teaching resources made by teachers.

BBC 500 Words is the UK’s most successful short story-writing competition for children between 5-13 and they want your students to get involved! You can submit a story about anything! Whether a story about dragons, cars or toasters takes your fancy, simply write your short (500 words!) story and submit it!

The competition goes live on 16th January 2020 and closes on 27th February so you still have lots of time to include it in a creative writing lesson. If you are needing inspiration, join Radio 2’s Zoe Ball along with several very famous authors for a special BBC Teach 500 Words Live Lesson on Thursday 16th January and available anytime on-demand after.
