Mique Moriuchi

I am a freelance illustrator specialising in children’s book illustration and greeting cards. I love hands-on creative, messy and fun work involving painting, collage, drawing, printmaking, colour, texture, paper, pattern and narrative, as well as sewing.

My love of paper can be partly influenced by my Japanese background. I use all kinds of paper from handmade to found, for collage and paper crafts including Origami.

Being bilingual, in addition to motherhood has fuelled my fascination with language, and being a children’s book illustrator, I am very interested in how words and pictures work together.

I can deliver creative workshops based on my background as a freelance illustrator – good for experimenting, learning new techniques, building confidence, well-being and self-expression.

I can deliver origami workshops based on my cultural background – good for fine motor skills, shapes, fractions, building confidence, well-being and fun.

My clients include Walker Books, Hachette Children’s Books, Frances Lincoln, Templar Publishing, Gecko Press and Paperchase.
