Emily Davies ‘Stories in Glass’

I am a qualified primary teacher and freelance mosaic artist/tutor with over 20 years of experience of teaching and facilitating exciting and creative learning journeys in schools and community settings.

When not working in schools, I can be found in my garden studio in Ampthill delivering mosaic workshops and creating artwork for exhibitions and commissions. Mosaic is an incredibly versatile, decorative and vibrant medium suitable for indoor and outdoor application. Its creation encourages imaginative, mindful, and thoroughly rewarding participation for all ages. It is quite simply life-enhancing!

I have a BA Hons/QTS in English Literature and Primary Education and an MA in Children’s Literature. A lifelong passion for illustrated books and storytelling continually influences my desire to produce unique pieces of mosaic artwork which tell the stories of the thousands of tiny fragments of shape and colour that contribute to their making.

In schools, I generally work with small groups throughout the day to ensure the full and safe involvement of all pupils, however, I am happy to deliver a school assembly at the beginning or end of a project to explain some background information about the history of mosaic and the creative process.
