Manga / Anime Artist required for a series of Saturday workshop in Dunstable

Dunstable Library are seeking an anime/manga artist to lead ten two-hour sessions on Saturdays with young people from Dunstable and Houghton Regis. The art-forms we want to concentrate on are anime, manga and cosplay, with an emphasis on Japanese style and culture.

Dunstable Library aim to encourage teenagers to use the library and to become more culturally engaged, through an artform that they would enjoy. The library has a manga collection which can be used for reference during the sessions.

There is also an exhibition opportunity as part of the project. There is a budget for materials and to bring in other artists for some of the sessions.

Location: Dunstable Library, Vernon Place, Dunstable LU5 4HA

Timing: January – March 2018 (First session: 6th January, to be decided)

Age Group: 11-18 years of age. 12-15 participants.

Fee: £1,000 to include preparation. Travel costs will be covered.

The project is part of Culture Plus, which is supported by Central Bedfordshire Council and the Royal Opera House Bridge.

The lead artist must participate in evaluation/feedback including observation/feedback. The evaluation will be led by Culture Plus’s independent evaluators.
