We are working with Cauldwell, Shackleton and Shortstown Primary schools on a ‘Creativity for Wellbeing’ research project. As part of this, each school is running an after school Culture Club. We are looking for up to 5 practitioners to work with groups of between 12 – 18, Year 4 children (aged 7 – 8) plus their supporting teacher.
Sessions are just under an hour in length, and we would like each practitioner to work with the same group of students for three consecutive weeks. We are looking for practitioners to build positive relationships with the students and to boost their confidence, by helping them learn a new creative skill or way to express and enjoy themselves.
The children are particularly interested in music, textiles, street art, and visual arts, but we are open to all expressions of interest.
Sessions take place between 3:30pm – 4:30pm (approximately) on Monday (at Cauldwell Primary), Thursday (at Shortstown Primary) and Friday (Shackleton Primary). It is possible for one practitioner to work across all three schools either concurrently or consecutively, depending on your availability. Your three workshops should relate and build on one another.
The three blocks of delivery will take place on the following weeks:

Block One – Week commencing: 30th Oct, 6th Nov, 13th Nov
Block Two – Week commencing: 20th Nov, 27th Nov, 4th Dec
Block Three – Week commencing: 15th Jan, 22nd Jan, 29th Jan
Block Four – Week commencing: 5th Feb, 19th Feb, 26th Feb
Block Five – Week commencing: 5th Mar, 12th Mar, 19th Mar
The fee would be £240 per 3 workshop block, and this is inclusive of VAT, prep, three hours of high quality delivery, high quality materials, plus your travel to the school. Your three workshop block can be repeated in the different schools.
To make an expression of interest, please send a paragraph outlining what you would cover in the 3 sessions, your availability for each block, and your availability for a Monday/Thursday/Friday Culture Club to eleanorh@bedfordcreativearts.org.uk by Monday 16th October, and applicants will be informed of selection within one working week.
