Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre is part of the Leighton Buzzard Library building. It shows a variety of events including films, live screenings, comedy, dance, live theatre, and music.

We show a wide variety of films including World Cinema (foreign language with subtitles) and Relaxed Screenings. Relaxed Screenings are designed to welcome those on the autism spectrum or anyone who would benefit from a relaxed cinema environment. At a relaxed screening, seating is unreserved, the sound volume is reduced and low lights are left on. It’s fine to make a noise, move round or leave the cinema. Recently we have shown Frozen and Paddington as Relaxed Screenings.

We present a number of high quality live theatre events for all ages including recently the sell out Arthur’s Dream Boat, based on the book by Polly Dunbar, and I’ve Seen Santa, the much acclaimed United We Stand, Ernest and the Pale Moon and Our Friends the Enemy for older audiences.

Enjoy some of the most talked-about productions from London’s National Theatre, live via satellite, or as an encore. Broadcasts feature a complete live production, from curtain up to curtain down, plus special behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with cast and crew. Some of our past presentations include War Horse and Curious Incident. We also show live screenings from the RSC. Past showings include Richard II starring David Tennant, and very recently Love’s Labour’s Won. English National Opera is also part of our Live Screenings programming. We are showing La traviata, The Pirates of Penzance and Carmen over the next few months

Please call us to discuss special screenings, group bookings discounts, any particular curriculum need or perhaps an End of Term Treat for your pupils (a visit to the theatre to watch a film at a discounted price, on a day and time mutually agreed).
