VyMy Dance offers dance classes in a range of styles for Reception to Year 13. We cover street dance, contemporary/lyrical, musical theatre, ballet and creative dance/choreography.

VyMy Dance classes develop confidence, creativity, co-ordination, memory and physical fitness. Every term, all VyMy classes develop work to perform in an informal showcase. Those who participate in classes but do not wish to perform are involved in the creation process and learn about the backstage work done by choreographers.

Nisha Vyas-Myall is a former professional dancer who set up VyMy Dance in 2015, with the aim to deliver high quality dance classes to schools and communities that may not have access to dance training. She has a degree in Performing Arts from the University of Bedfordshire and the Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. She holds an IDTA Associate diploma in Freestyle Dance, so pupils can be entered for examinations in Freestyle and Street Dance.

Additionally, Nisha arranges local performance opportunities such as the River Festival and village fetes, as well as competitions. She also offers theory support for dance (Key Stage 3 upwards) and work placements/shadowing for Year 12 and 13.

I have found Nisha to be honest and trustworthy. She is keen to give our pupils an opportunity to develop their skills and perform for parents and pupils at every opportunity. Her classes run half termly and are well attended. She has provided us with all docments we have reuqested to meet our safeguarding requirements without complaints or delay. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to other schools.” – Kim Varley, Maple Tree Lower School

Challenges by this provider

Fee Structure:

£40 per hour for children's classes, with an additional £15 per group if the classes led towards a performance held within the school (no additional charge if they are building up to be involved in the VyMy Dance showcase held every term.) £50 for sessions - practical or theory - for staff, £40 for theory support sessions with students. No charge for work experience or work shadowing.

Staff Training:

I can offer training in basic choreographic skills and Laban Movement Analysis. I also teach dance to adults and so I can provide dance classes to staff as a fun activity/team building or to help understanding in a technique.

Although separate to VyMy Dance, I also research and lead workshops in movement meditation, which will be beneficial to staff dealing with stress.
