Open Call: Help Denbigh School make Literacy come alive

Denbigh School in Milton Keynes would like to commission a Culture Challenge practitioner to run a set of four active learning literacy workshops this Autumn. Working with a group of 18 year 8 boys, they want you to help make literacy come alive through creative and active activities to develop adventurous vocabulary, creative use of punctuation and varied sentence openers. You might use graphics or visuals to stimulate the formulation of ideas and expand vocabulary.

The activities you plan will show the advantages of collaborative work, enabling the boys to bounce ideas around in a supportive and guided environment in which they are safe to be creative. You may, depending on your artform, work with the students to create a final piece to show their creative confidence and expanded vocabularies.

The school are open to a wide range of responses to the brief. Workshops would take place between 11am and 1pm on the 9th, 16th, 30th November and 7th December. Extra time for setting up and clearing away is available if needed. There are a range of flexible working spaces available in the school.

This opportunity is only open to Culture Challenge Practitioners. To make an expression of interest please email eleanorh@bedfordcreativearts.org.uk confirming that you are available on the required days, and indication of costs (inclusive of prep, materials, VAT and travel), and the kind of room you would need to work in by the 27th October.
